We saw some excellent squash at the finals yesterday. The Open singles was of a very high standard with some great variety of play with lovely drop, lobs and drives. The doubles saw some great rallies with remarkable reaction shots from some very hard hitting, great consistency and huge variety. The Handicap saw Jack show great determination to wear down Brandon with steady shots, few mistakes and clever direction changes.
The results were:
Ladies - Betsy Drury beat Claire Earl 3-1 (15-8; 15-10; 11-15; 15-6)
Handicap - Jack Rivans (-37) beat Brandon Williams (0) 2-0 (15-12; 17-15)
Veterans - Phil Burton beat Andrew Jennings 3-1 (9-3;9-0; 6-9; 9-3)
Open - Alan Taffinder beat Jack Albrow 3-0 (15-11;15-11;15-5)
Doubles - Phil Coleman/Alan Taffinder beat Jack Albrow/Adam Blewer 3-0 (15-10; 15-9; 15-11)
Congratulations to all who played for entertaining us to a very enjoyable afternoon and thanks to Chris Pike for laying on a great buffet which was enjoyed by all who played and watched the finals.
